Dialog Editing

Hello everyone. I thought I would share this video about editing dialog. This is some information I wish I would've had when I was starting out. https://youtu.be/Xy31jShyKEY

Karen "Kay" Ross

Oooo, excellent find!

Nice video. I watched it in 2019 when I was first tackling sound in Davinci. It actually worked out pretty well and it explained a few things really well.

Vital Butinar Very cool, and dialog is so important in a film, and very noticeable if edited wrong.

Kevin Gamble oh definitely. I don't know why but among other things I can edit pretty well but don't do the editing much of the time because in all fairness Leya is much better and intuitive than I am.

But I do love editing blocks of dialog. I don't know why but just finding those perfect moments to cut to the other actor or a reaction shot or something else it's just magical, all those J and L cuts.

Then when you figur out something is not working how you can reshuffle or just cut out some of the dialog and make it work.

I love that but most people don't and I think it has to do with along with the picture you have to track the audio and then watch out not to screw something up.

But what I do hate is when the sound is shot bad and you have to do ADR. Those I don't like. :)
