Financing Music Videos

What are some financing strategies for music videos? I know I can get some money from the label but who else? I was thinking about attaching sponsors or "brought to you by" spots and leveraging exposure from the festival circuit and press release campaigns as incentive but that's about my only idea. Thoughts?

There's always the standby--Crowdfunding.

If the act has a dedicated following, then a little crowdfunding can be good. You can also ticket special events, such as breakfast with the band on the day of the Video Release party, or cameo appearances in the video, or on-set privilege along with signed stills posing with the band... just be careful not to overburden the artists. Sponsorship is tricky, but in today's resurgent music video market not unlikely. I'd personally be circumspect about touching the video itself with sponsor messaging, but certainly a co-located spot, a spin-off spot (independent spot using footage from the video along with sponsor messaging), or sponsorship at the kickoff event ... all of those seem likely. If you get any leverage from festival placements or press releases, please let me know. I don't have a sense of the value prop in either of those, but if a sponsor does, well then it's a good play.
