Can anyone explain difference between a Producer, a Co-Producer, an Executive Producer, an Associate Producer, a Line Producer and a Supervising Producer?

Michael, my apologies. Was only attempting to incite discussions... I have discovered how few people know the difference between a Co, an Exec, a Line, an Associate and the initiator Producer... Which one are you & why? "best"
I just ordered on Kindle "From Reel to Deal" can't wait to start reading it
I believe you'll enjoy it... Straight, practical, cut-to-the-chase no-bull info on how to Write, Produce, Direct, Light, Shoot, Edit, Market, Distribute & Finance your first feature film... When I wrote it Crowd Funding, Government Programs & Product Placement were not available... but I updated my DVD FILM SCHOOL & STREAMING FILM SCHOOL programs to include them along with Tax Incentives, 4K/Digital Filmmaking & 3D basics...
You clearly know what the difference is and do not anyone to explain the differences. Ultimately you are here to promote Mr. Simens courses. Nothing wrong with promotion. If you want to initiate (not "incite" which is "to cause (someone) to act in an angry, harmful, or violent way") a discussion I suspect there are better ways of doing so.
D Marcus, my apologies if I angered you I still hope that members discuss differences amidst "Co", "Executive", "Associate", Line" & "Supervising" Producers... It is needed info to make your first deal and maximize profits and residuals...

Why did this discussion go so left? A harmless question was asked and either you answered it or you don't. I never see a reason to apologize for asking a question. Ijs

For starters, look at: http://www.producersguild.org/?page=faq
John, Thank you the PGA gives a very good technical definition of the differences... But it doesn't outline the emotional issues when (A) people are looking for money and (B) People who have money start giving money and (C) what credit goes to the person who introduced you to the money if "the money person" actually gives you the money and of course there are going to be contracts. Does the person who does the legal work and contracts get a credit in the Opening Titles.
Yolanda.. Thank you for your input, for it is important to understand that there are the Technical definitions of credits as deemed by the PGA and then there are the Emotional definition of Opening Title Credits that is not addressed by the PGA.

Producer is the dreamer-entrepreneur someone who many times has never been to film school and decides I want to make a movie... and, common sense states, he/she proceeds by (A) getting a script, (B) getting a budget and (C) hustling the money.

Co-Producer (person) or Co-Production (company) is usually the entity, and there could be more than one that gives/invests/funds more than 20% of the budget and in return gets either a percentage of profits or a nation or territory as an exclusive revenue stream

Executive Producer is usually an attorney that either introduces you to "the money" and gets "the money" to give you the money while overseeing all the proper legal works and contracts.

Associate Producer is a little like an Executive Producer but does no legal work and usually becomes a middle-man that introduces you to someone who is financially secure (likely Co-Producer) in hopes the he/she gives you the money and he/she will have a person, after the fact, now called an Executive Producer, to ensure that all the legal work and contracts are valid.

Line Producer, is basically what I became 30 years ago after several shoots as a Production Manager and micro-budget movies that I made sure stayed On-Budget & On-Schedule... then the person that hired me wanted to hire me again but this time I asked for instead of a Production Manager credit in the Rear Title Crawl I asked for a Line Producer credit in the Opening Titles... and I received it... but still did the same job as Production Manager.

Supervising Producer is still confusing to me. It was never a credit that I saw in the Feature Film world but I see quite often in the TV/Cable world... and that is why I quietly asked the question... I was hoping that someone could explain a Supervising Producer to me and why that person is different from the Associate Producer, the Line Producer and the Executive Producer...
You are helping me Dov S-S Simens
Fredrick... Thank you. That's what I'm trying... I always wished I had someone to tell me where the detours and booby traps are placed in this industry when I started....
Thanks, Dov! Very helpful information!
That was very informative because I usually Google it. So I'll be typing this out on my pc

Yalonda, the reason is this person is representing Doc S-S Simens; a well known, well respected film instructor and mastermind behind the "2 Day Film School" It was not a harmless question. It is marketing. Marketing is essential. I feel it should be honest. He doesn't need any to explain the differences. He know the differences. His program is excellent. I feel there is no need to "incite" a discussion with a false question. Just be honest and open.
Wow! wow! @ D Marcus & Dov S-S Simens guys tone it down. can someone help me get someone who can come to kenya and Mombasa specifically to come and do practical film making conference for one week? i can mobilize for resources and help young film makers in this part of the world. By the way the film industry in kenya needs a lot of investors so if you are on this platform please lets work on a deal. By the way there is no 35mm film camera in Mombasa and only a few in Nairobi and hiring is just not affordable. Anyone there?? Drop me an inbox at brfilmskenya@gmail.com or fbunde2000@yahoo.com or text at +254723336508 Regards.
Dov. No need to apologise, that was me trying to be funny, I'm sure your courses are really good and if I lived nearer would certainly consider going on them...,,
