Screenwriting : Character Breakdown Sheet by David M Hyde

Character Breakdown Sheet

My manager wants a character breakdown sheet. Honestly, I've never seen one. Anyone have any suggestions where I can find some examples on-line so I can see the format, etc.?

Stacy Gentile

Ask your manager for examples ... they are the one asking and they must have something specific in mind.

Jeremy Trahan

Example of character breakdown: Paul, 40s, jobless, divorced, needs a new outlook on life Anne, 20s, young, hungry, aggressive, ready to go at any moment Ted, 50s, successful, rich, owns a company, ladies love him, cocky

David Levy

CHaracter Sheet should tell who the character is NOW. What they are dealing with, motivation going forward, etc. But a manager should be able to tell you what they are looking for.

Danny Manus

I've never heard of a manager asking for a character breakdown sheet. Either you have WAY too many characters for him to keep track and the script is confusing, or he's not a great manager.

Jason Dennis

He may want a marketing-angled document rather than a story understanding document. Why would an actor want this role, etc. May want to see your pitching ability or something.

David M Hyde

Thanks Jason. yes, she is asking for the breakdown to include in a press pack as a follow up to the pitch.
