Here comes the next style of filmmaking-vertical or micro shorts! are we ready?

FORGET FEATURES AND SHORTS, how do we write 30-40 shorts about 1min each with over acting and a hook 39 X? The big challenge awaits us writers. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/microdrama-seri.... Ron @roncreatesintokyo on insta

As shoots dry up for features and episodic TV in Los Angeles, there have been a few big-money bets placed by Hollywood veterans that soapy, short "vertical" stories are the next big thing - even if so…

Advertisement. Basically how YouTube monetizes their content. That would be my first guess.

It's all about ads, views, clicks.

Elle Bolan The budgets mentioned in the article are $100-150k per minute. One minute, no room for an internal ad. A ten-second lead ad will likely reduce viewers (perceived as a paywall, but annoying and off topic.) product placement? Perhaps. Sponsorhip like the old soap operas of radio and early television. I can see the ad now: "Ivory soap, 99 and 9/10ths% pure, unlike the vixen in this steamy drama."

I would think ads could be placed every few episodes. But you're right that they wouldn't make up for the whole of the revenue at all. You're probably closer to the mark with product placement and sponsorship.

Rutger Oosterhoff 2 As always Rutger, you keep it interesting. I would pick your ANALYZE FISH as a better fit for micro verticals.

Needs to be some kind of subscription model. Then you would be agreeing to spam notifications of the various sponsors. Interrupting a one minute story is bad.
