The concept that inspired my logline addresses Evan Aglin’s instructions for writing with heart, soul and conviction. “Hit with the good stuff,” means giving my Black female protagonists options they secretly wish for. Someone to love, protect and make them feel special. Disney’s Cinderella with Brandy and Halle Bailey as Ariel in The Little Mermaid had that effect. Taking it to the next level, I’m using real male, female relationships to explore What Ifs. What would happen if Black women could have better choices for life partners? How will they divorce undesirables?

Those are great ideas, Shirley Collier! I really like "giving my Black female protagonists options they secretly wish for. Someone to love, protect and make them feel special." It makes the characters feel more real.
