I'm wondering if its possible to get any studio attention/funding for a re-make of a lesser known foreign film if you wanted to update it for an American audience. Anyone have experience with this?

You would have to buy the rights. Or know that the rights are available and pitch it when you do a round of meetings after your screenplay went wide.

If you don't own the rights or personally know the person who does...it's probably not worth writing.

You want to impress people with your creativity on original screenplays... and that leads to a chance to do a remake.
I'm working on something else currently. I was wondering for a future project.
