Hi! I'm Eric Christianson. Been acting for almost 30 years but recently decided to try my hand at screenwriting. I've written 3 spec Firefly episodes, an original sci-fi/western pilot and the next two episodes, and am current writing a western feature. I covet any and all feedback so if you care to go to http://ericthescreenwriter.webs.com/ and give my writings a look-see, I'd be grateful. Loglines, treatments, etc. can all be found there. Thanks!
Writing a "spec" of a show that's been off the air for 12 years is more in the realm of fan fiction... You might want to try http://www.browncoats.com/?ContentID=42e98a8bb7ca7

It was originally a sequel to Serenity. I was a noob and simply hoped my idea would somehow find its way to Joss Whedon with enough promotion. It was Vince Gillum who suggested I write for TV instead so I converted it to a 3-pt TV mini-series. So - you're correct - writing a spec script for a show off the air for that long is fruitless. It did, however, give me plenty of good practice with subject matter I was familiar with so that I could do justice to my current project. Thanks for the feedback!

I frickin' loved FIREFLY and SERENITY. Joss Wheden is such a fantastic writer/creator/director. Eric, write whatever you wish, whatever gives you inspiration. It's not "fruitless" to hone your craft. Sure, it may not be produced but what you have is a great sample of your work. Also, perhaps consider posting your loglines and/or scripts on your Stage 32 personal page. Best to you!
