Screenwriting : Who Wants To Do a Community Script? by Sy Shanti

Who Wants To Do a Community Script?

Who wants to do a story chain/collective script? I think it would be something fun and creative to do through email, one person starts it, passes it to the next person, they add their part and so on. Any takers?

Rob Mc

What would be the premise? How many pages? I would be interested in something like this I think. Collaborations are always an interesting experiment.

Sy Shanti

Hey Rob, I was thinking a paragraph a for minimum, a page max. As far as a premise I was thinking we could brainstorm it then come up with a collective consensus. What you think?

Lance D. White

I'm good for this. It sounds fun. Let me know when you get started.

Rob Mc

A kindof dorky and cheesy logline I thought of a while back. 'In a dark future where criminal organizations have taken over government, one man must travel back in time to commit crimes, crimes to warn past governments and police forces of future crimes before they happen. It'd be called 'Crime Travel'. you can tell what kind of tone it might have.

Anton West

This sounds like fun! I'm in.

Hey Rob Mc, Robin Smith, Alle Segretti, Lance D. White, and Anton West. I don't think you can reply to people's comments individually here, so I'm going o reply to everyone at once so please bare with me. Except for Robin Smith who already did his, could everyone leave their email address here so I can send out group emails and we can all get on the same page? Or just email me at sylimyogishanti@yahoo.com and put group script in the subject line. Also if we're going to be working with each other we're going to become familiar with each other and hopefully this is the embryotic stages of a strong core of friendships, partnerships and money makingships (LOL). With that being said, I think its a good idea for everyone to divulge their strengths and weaknesses as a writer. For example, I'm horrible at grammar and punctuation, so if we have and editor in the group we know they will keep the script tight and clean. If someone is better at dialog than others they would be tasked to keep the dialog fresh and flowing. I'm sure you guys get the idea. Now I've been in a story chain before and partnered with other's to write a script before but I've never wrote a script as a group, so I'm very excited to do this. So any ideas anyone has about how we should execute this venture please chime in, I'm not leading this we all are, I'm just facilitating it to get the ball rolling. Rob Mc - That sounds like an interesting concept and I like that title. It puts me in the mind of Time Cop and Minority Report so I'd like to hear some more of the motivation of the protagonist, what type of crimes do he commit and how the crimes he commits warns the government. This could be very unique from those movies depending on the answers. Robin Smith - Yes definitely through some log lines out there. Matter of fact, you and Rob Mc gave me an idea. I think it would be cool if everyone submit two or three log lines then we make a group decision on the one we start on first. What do everyone think of that? Alle Segretti - That's an awesome resource that we can use, thank you. And I think we can also decide that as a group, to make a producible script we can get made right now, or make a script we could market to sell. I'm fine with either direction. Lance and Anton - Consider your self counted in!

Sy Shanti

Got it Rob, thank you.

I would be honored to secretary for the story and plot. I can get the ball rolling by collecting answers to 11 questions.

Sy Shanti

Dillon Mcpheresome

Sy Shanti

Thank you Adam and Dillon, yeah I already got you guys, that message was for Heather, Alle, Anton and Lance.

Anton West

Hi guys, I'm out I'm afraid. I was looking forward to contributing but I just got a paying gig to do a rewrite on a script which is shooting in a couple of weeks so I'll be flat out until then. Good luck with your plans!

Sy Shanti

Hey Anton, good stuff man, maybe another time. Much success to you!

Anton West

Thanks for the good wishes, Sy. Alle, the rewriting gig is a real job with a real deadline. TWO WEEKS. Not like your fantasy 'five year slate'. It would be letting these nice Stage 32 people down if having offered to contribute to their project, I then failed to deliver because I have a very pressing deadline elsewhere, not to mention other ongoing projects. It's just good manners to let people know where I stand. So well done to Sy for coming up with the idea and good luck with the script, everyone!

Lance D. White

I emailed you, but here is my email address. LDWhite05@gmail.com

Anton West

Thanks for your appreciation of my amazing skills and talents, Alle. Sadly they will be deployed elsewhere for the near future. Do you consider that getting a paid gig for creative work is somehow contrary to the purity of artistic endeavour? I'm interested because by your own admission you have made little or no money from your work in the last 15 years. You openly scorn those who have to take a day job to support themselves whilst working towards their dream. So how have YOU paid your bills? Rent, mortgage, electricity, broadband? And you have kids, right? They need to be clothed and fed? My guess is that you piggy-backed on someone else's hard work, someone else who had a day job, to support you whilst you pursued your dream. Personally I like to pay my own way but hey each to their own.
