Nuts

Nuts is a short film directed by Irvine Welsh, co-written with Dean Cavanagh. It is produced by Dublin novelist, film-maker and artist Emer Martin and shot by Greg Hecq, the high priest of Los Angeles cinematography. Set in Dublin and starring Joe McKinney in a tour de force performance, Nuts is a story of a man coming to terms with a genital illness. Nuts premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on Thursday, 16th August 2007. Comments by Irvine "Nuts was great fun to make, We shot it without any money, so I had to call on the favours of a lot of friends in Dublin and further afield. Graham at the Attic Studios was as helpful as always, but the real star of show was my good pal Emer Martin who talked begged and bullied everybody into taking part. Greg flew in from L.A. to shoot it and, Niall came from San Francisco to do the sound, Mark Healy came from Clondalkin to do the music, and McKinney came from down the street on his bike to put in a brilliant performance in between fag breaks."
