SYNOPSIS:

Sam is an out of work engineer who struggles to provide for his 14 year daughter Annie. He’s offered a consulting job to assess a top secret drone project. He’s flown to an unknown location and he’s cut off from the outside world. Sam discovers a fatal flaw in the drone design scrapping five years of work and millions of dollars. Fearing the company’s downfall, Jacob a corrupt FBI agent and “problem solver” for the company is ordered “fix the problem” and eliminate Sam. Sam is tricked into believing he’s going home. When the private jet he’s in makes an emergency stop at an abandoned airfield Sam is attacked by a couple of Jacob’s “fixers”, but Sam’s former army training kicks in and he manages to escape on foot. Angry at their failure Jacob kills the two men and leaves evidence which implicates Sam. Sam, now wanted for murder buys an old ’63 Pontiac convertible and hits the road for his 700 mile trip to his home in Seattle. Meanwhile Jacob uses his connections to be assigned Sam’s murder case; effectively kidnaping Sam’s daughter and sister. Sam is pulled over by Constance a deputy sheriff. Desperate to save his daughter Sam impulsively subdues her and puts her in his trunk. With state troopers, Jacob and the FBI hot on his heels Sam races for home. Once Sam proves to Constance his innocence she and Sam’s best friend John an ex-cop and former army buddy team up to draw Jacob into a final showdown. Using a thumb drive he stole with incriminating evidence Sam offer’s a trade: the thumb drive for his family. Not wanting to endanger Constance and sully her with his mess Sam leaves her behind. They arrange for trade at an abandoned strip mall. Knowing Jacob will not play fair Sam sets up a few surprises for Jacob and his assault team. In the ensuing gun battle Sam and John take out Jacob’s assault team but the attack leaves John badly wounded. With nothing left but his skills Sam confronts Jacob who’s taken Annie as hostage. Unable to gain advantage and with Annie’s life on the line Sam exchanges his life for hers. Jacob, wounded, misses his first shot at Sam giving Sam the opportunity to draw and fire as Jacob fires again. Both men drop. Constance arrives with the police to find a bloody Sam standing over the suffering Jacob. Constance pleads for Sam to stop but filled with rage Sam puts a bullet into Jacob’s chest. Knowing that Sam has stepped over the line from self-defense to murder she’s surprised when Sam reveals both his and John’s guns were loaded with rubber bullets used to suppress riots which only do minimal damage. With Jacob’s plans thwarted and everyone safe, Sam and Constance share their first kiss
