Bob Brill Screenwriter and Author and Broadcaster

Hi guys, let's put it bluntly, we're looking for the money and trying to find those who have it to fund our projects so we can get more of it (or in most cases, some of it). For me, bottom line is I'm an award winning broadcaster and author who has written a dozen screenplays in various genre and a good solid TV pilot and I'm always writing. I'm looking for the money trail that leads to the person who can write the check who looks FIRST to find a way to say YES instead of looking to find every NEGATIVE to say NO. If that's you then we need to talk. Always willing to work with new people who are serious and aren't wasting time. I'm not a director, it's not my thing, and I'm always willing to learn through every rewrite but first you have to look at it, makes your points and allow me to come back and ask questions regarding your points. Never understand why it doesn't work this way. Positive positive positive so we can all make things happen.

There are many ways to find funding for projects, especially for small independent films. A friend raised $10,000 via crowd funding on IndieGogo for her film. She has a big network in the Women in Film community in Vancouver so people who knew her were happy to donate $25 or so. Several people volunteered their services, knowing she'd be happy to work on their projects in the future. So the movie was made at very little cost.

Thanx Alle, good things. I'm currently working with a pretty well known producer on one TV project I created and we both love but that's a documentary series for cable and quite different in the approach than my feature scripts or my TV Pilot. I'm in radio, have been for 43 years, not TV so believe it or not those contacts to a point do not exist. I do have other industry contacts, whether from UCLA ext classes or inside the industry. Some are just not interested in what I have, some don't think a guy who has been around this long can break in. I write some great log lines, and I'm struggling with others on my other scripts. The best ones have gotten the most attention to be sure. I've written 12 feature scripts and none of them are novels. I also write novels and have 5 on the bookshelves now (including a coffee table biography which is the one which my passion script is based on. My manager (I don't have an agent) really believes in the one script (my passion feature script) and so does her team, so I think we're going in that direction for the next feature pitch. There is one biggie producer we'd like to pitch and it's possible and they would be perfect. Not that others would not be, but this one I've thought for years is THE guy. On the TV side and that is where the money is we all know and the control, I'm considering writing the next two episodes of the Pilot. based on your comments I may do that. My bible was a little light, I'll admit. It did make it to the semifinals of the Stage 32 contest, but personally I don't put much stock in any contest. It's nice to say but does it really mean anything? As far as writing a check is concerned, that's the bottom line for whatever reason, a passion, prestige of getting into the business and having your name as Ex Producer. The money has to come from somewhere and it won't be the screenwriter.
