Hi to all, I've been a member for sometime, I run a drama group for teenagers in the South of England. I'm a working actor, film, TV & theatre. I have worked my up through the ranks, made that special door many times; However, I find it very tough to get a pass through!! I have no doubt that the Uk system of getting work is becoming a little impossible because of the so call class system that controls the money. Nepotism is rife in the acting paternity. Nepotism is illegal in most industries but ignored in my profession. You could have worked for 30 years, trained or not trained, but the role will go to some well established actor/director/producers relative. Their experience counts for nothing, they are just elevated to the top, no training or experience required!! I have no idea if it's the same in the US, here it stinks. Actors who have worked for many years and have trained but don't fit the toff category, regardless on the role being perfect for them, they'll not get the job. It's soul destroying. But hey ho!! we carry on regardless..... One day, one day, one day..... That's what you have to say to yourself. If possible actors who fall into this british crap trap, should get together, raise the funds, buy your own equipment and produce their own work. One thing the toffs will do is, buy the end production if it's professionally made and has quality and they will like the profits. The Bastards can't argue with talent, they just try to suppress it.
