I'm a playwright and screenwriter. I've had several screenplays optioned, but have never made it to production. As a playwright I've had a number of very nice productions. I have done well in competitions and won some awards. This year I was a finalist in the Nashville Film Festival screenplay competition - the only woman finalist in the feature drama category. I love the collaboration of plays, but I also love turning over the work and seeing what the director/actors/set/lights/etc. create. I enjoy seeing my work brought to life, and have no desire to act or direct myself. I am a writer and quite happy doing just that. I live in Florida and support myself working for a non-profit rural medical and dental clinic. I do bookkeeping/administrative/hr/whatever job no one else wants work. I live with an artist who is a photographer by training. He is a cyclist, while I prefer rock climbing as my sport. I've been meaning to post during one of these "introduce yourself" weekends for a while. It would be nice to connect with others.

That's great! Have you tried the Nicholl Fellowship competition? It's another really good one. I made it to the quarter (twice) and semi-finals (once) with it. If your first script did that well at Nashville, you should definitely give it a shot.
No, not yet. I will this year though. I have four features, (one that just got good coverage) and I'm pollishing my first Pilot. I'll get more involved with competitions this year for sure! You sound like you've had a great ride with your writing... Looks like the script you just placed as a finalist was great even a (decade) ago, right?

Stephen - Yep! It made it to the quarter-finals of Nicholl and did well some other places. I blew the dust off it the end of last year and entered it and ended up in the finals. Surprised the hell out of me. Nice surprise, though. So I'm considering working on some new screenplays and see what happens.
