When I was a boy of 15 years old, I met a lovely 13 years girl at the Municipal Swimming pool, in Potchefstroom, South Africa, the town I was born in. When I took her to the movies that afternoon, they would not let her in, because her skin was dark brown. So was mine, burned by the sun at the swimming pool, but where I could show that I was white by showing them some white skin at my waist, she could not. Years later, her mother told me her story, and I promised her that I would only publish it after she had died, and then only with her daughter, Marla's permission. The story is a wonderful romantic story born in apartheid, South Africa. Google the books title, and read the many reviews.
Wow, this sounds like an incredibly poignant book! Is it available on Amazon?

Dara, the book is available from Amazon both as a soft cover and as an eBook. You can also Google the title and read the many reviews. I should have mentioned that my web page is www.jacobashersinger.com
Great! Thanks!
Dara, I know you will enjoy reading it, and I sincerely hope you will turn it into a movie. Charlize Theron has a book, and she thanked me very much. As a South African, she knows all about the apartheid scene. As a matter of interest, a young girl, Amira Willighagen, who at 9 years old won the 2013 Hollands got talent, has a mother that was born in my home town, Potchefstroom, in South Africa. Amira made a sizable contribution (over 40 million u-tube hits) to the African community in Ikageng, the African township (location) that bordered Potchefstroom.
