When Netflix announced Season 2 was starting on May 27th... I actually counted down the days til it's premiere... I loved Season 1.... so waiting all this time for 2 was hard... didn't even know if there was going to be a Season 2 because for me, it took forever. I've got to say Netflix did not disappoint. The writers and the actors, every single one of them should win a bunch of awards for their work. It's SICK. As I write this, I don't know if Season 1 is still on Netflix... if you haven't seen it watch it first... so much history of the Rayburn family... absolutely incredible... Season 2 writing is OFF THE CHARTS. I'm triple spacing between paragraphs so it's not big block. Best, as always, Sylvia

I agree, I loved season 1! I've watched three episodes of season 2 and I wish I wasn't busy the next two days so I could marathon it, haha :)
Now you have something to look forward to... I really binged hard over 2 days.... in a week or so I'm going back to rewatch it. Just one episode at a time. Wish I could get hold of those scripts. Happy Memorial Day to you and yours tomorrow.

Hey Sylvia, I just finished season 2... Wow, it's good! They sure set up the next wave of problems that will certainly explode next season. LOL! My only complaint (if I can even call it that—LOL!) is that I'm growing very tired of the matriarch (Sissy Spacek) being so "passive" or always in the dark or kept that way. With the way season 2 ends I hope that changes. It needs to IMHO. I'm hoping she becomes a force to be reckoned with. That would be great. ;)

I thought because of time restraints she's not in it that much. I don't have a problem with her character because she has such a minor supporting role and so many parents are kept out of the loop in their children's lives that it's believable to me that she'll remain in the background... she will have her peak moments I'm sure. But she doesn't control much... even her daughter is the executor of the Will. Maybe she will become a force to reckon with now that she's invited Danny's ex-wife and son into her house. But Kyle Chandler's character is the front runner and the rest of the family supports him to a degree... these character arcs take a long time to change.... sometimes the whole 7 years they're on. I'm going to watch it again at a later time... this is the start of a very busy season at the restaurant. So between working and writing I'm filled up to the brim. Are you writing? Have a great week Beth... missed you.

Yes, totally get and agree with what you are saying... But her character seems too passive, too "blind." They (her adult children) treat her like a child. I understand that given the first season, the dominate nature of her husband, her past issues, etc. Now with the second season and her coming to terms with the past and the deaths in the family, I'm hoping she'll "snap out of it" and start using the power she has as the matriarch. Despite her children hiding things from her they respect her. Much of the tension is hiding everything from "Mom." If that changes, it would be interesting to see how she responds. :)

Yes... Mom's of adult children are always left out of the loop.... she's no dummy though... she has her suspicions about what went on, I believe... I think she's scared to death... and in denial big time. She invited Danny's wife and child in... that's huge guilt... to do that. That she wasn't there for Danny... Beth let's call the Producers and see if they'll let you and me write a couple of episodes. LOL
Haha! Sounds good to me!! :) About adult children... Yeah, again, totally agree with what you're saying. But this family in this story and how they are so intertwined, perhaps more so because of the money, the business, all the bad stuff... I don't know, this character for me is becoming "unbelievable." However, the way the second season ends, there's certainly promise. I think her character becoming more "active" would add even more pressure. Anyway, can't wait for more episodes. Lol! :)
