Introduce Yourself : Jackie Macgirvin - faith based author by Jackie Macgirvin

Jackie Macgirvin - faith based author

I'm an award-winning writer and ghostwriter who has detoured into screenplays the last few years. I write mainly Christian fiction. I turned one of my novels, The Designer Bag at the Garbage Dump, into a screenplay and made the finals in the Kairos contest this year. Here's a brief synopsis: Julie, a nominal Christian headed for a weekend shopping binge to New York finds herself sitting next to Jesus on a deserted train. Her manicured, pedicured, self-absorbed, designer life is turned upside down when she gets off the train and finds she’s in Mumbai, India. Her divine assignment? Rescue eleven orphans living on a garbage dump before she can return home. Who else is writing faith-based screenplays out there?

Amanda Toney

Congratulations on the success of THE DESIGNER BAG AT THE GARBAGE DUMP at the Kairos contest. Well, faith-based is such a huge market - not just for the inspirational feel of the stories, but it's also a financial juggernaut at the box office. We had a great executive from Walt Becker's production company come in and teach about the market, I'm not sure if you've seen the class, but it might interest you: https://www.stage32.com/classes/Faith-Based-And-Inspirational-Aspiration...

Amanda, I'll check into it. Thanks for the head's up. Are you writing a faith-based SP?

Amanda Toney

No, I'm not a screenplay writer, but I am around an office filled with them :)

Welcome, Jackie and congrats on your script, inspiring and original for sure. Many of my scripts have an element of faith, faith in people who come to the rescue of others who are hurting, lost, abused, helpless, hopeless. Two in particular titled, "Shared Scars" and one I just finished , "GRAY". Hope I can read yours, if you post it on your profile page. You can mind there as well.

Lance Ness

I'd like to read it to, and add you to my network.
