Introduce Yourself : My name is Johnathon Zimmerman... by Johnathon Zimmerman

Hi friends, My name's Johnathon Zimmerman. I've been interested in movies and different types of productions for as long as I can remember. My first movies were Star Wars The Original Trilogy, the Back to The Future Trilogy, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., the earlier James Bond movies, as well as pretty much anything Disney animation and Pixar. Good family friends are theater directors and professors at Wesleyan University and so I've had plenty of exposure to theater as well as the amazing opportunity to volunteer and act in several stage productions at our local Community Playhouse. When YouTube was just starting out I was still very young and hadn't considered the idea to make my own movies until my cousin uploaded a few lip sync videos and it became very real to me that I could just as easily create content if I put my mind to it. Ever since then I've decided my life goal would be to get involved in the film industry. Ultimately I'd like to start my own Production Company/ Studio and be a Screenwriter/Director/Producer, Entrepreneur Filmmaker of sorts. But everyone has to start somewhere, and so this year I've decided to do what I can and get involved with others' projects. Most of what I know is self taught but I have received formal training in video production as well as experience with my former churches media ministry shooting and editing videos for a congregation of thousands across three different services. I've also been on the camera and tech teams. I've worked on several personal projects as well as done freelancer work for clients in the form of PSA's and Wedding Videos. In the past I had worked on an independent film that was never finished, but now that I've had much more production experience I now have a better understanding of what it takes to make a film so these past several months I've been working on a script and more pre-production work for a short film I hope to shoot in August. Primarily my skills fall into editing, writing and directing. I've been told my creativity and imagination are among my more stronger qualities. I love stories and story telling. My bigger inspirations in this late decade have been J.J. Abrams, Christopher Nolan, and the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. Smaller inspirations would be internet companies RocketJump and Rooster Teeth. Primarily I see myself as an Aspiring Entrepreneur Filmmaker but I have other interests in Podcasting, Video Gaming (and Video Gameplay Videos) as well as writing, technology, graphic design and athletics. I also enjoy music, but I don't see myself as a musical person. Above all else my relationships with my friends and family as well as my faith in Jesus Christ are the most important aspects of my life, but because of their support and my blessings in life I'm able to pursue my passions and interests in film making.
