Dan MaxXx, really appreciate the blunt $$$$$ advice. Any ideas on international submission?

I'm only interested in recognition and I know there's no money in shorts, but it can be a ladder to bigger projects like a feature. That's what I'm aiming for.

Unless you're supremely confident that your movie is going to be a success, I'd advise on not getting yourself into a ton of debt to make your film, be it a short or otherwise. There are many ways to make low/no-budget films which can showcase your talent. Check colleges and universities and local film clubs and network with those to build your crew. A lot of people, same as you may be, are inexperienced and the only way they can gain experience is by working with like-minded people. It can be a tough slog, as people are notoriously unreliable if they're giving their time for free, so you need to be well organised and committed and have a backup plan. Good luck!

Agree with David,No need to rush or overdo something.Try to make zero budget or low/extreme low budget films,may it be short film,short feature or feature(Seen many of great extreme low budget movies),By doing Collaboration and finding equally passionate and work loving people who are looking to do some good work irrespective of the amount of money. make and polish yourself.(Special thing is if you want to make such kind of films,of zero or extreme low/low budget,then you need to think keeping it in mind right from the point of concept).

I agree with David E. Gates Worked on many shorts where the filmmaker sacrificed far too much.
