Screenwriting : Taking one of my Screenplays for a spin by Kuhle Sikota

Taking one of my Screenplays for a spin

I want to take one or some of my most dramatic screenplays, gather some actors who love to show case their talents, get a few cameras for some angles, get an open space(Just a Big Room) and get the story on screen.

The plan is to create a YouTube channel and put the reels there. Have versions and versions of the story acted out(as compelling as actors can) ; creating a space for upcoming and established actors to show the world what they can do(Hopefully even reach out to those currently reading) enjoying the fun of filmmaking :)

I have written many of Screenplays, but without connections in the South African film industry one struggles to even get their craft seen(I guess this is me messing up the laws of physics haha)

I want to collaborate with actors and fellow story tellers and create something special in Sout Africa. At some point I'd even take other people's submitted screenplays and allow them to lead in processes, better yet, maybe get an even bigger stage for everything.

Maybe someone out there is already doing this, but I think the SA film industry needs it. The lovely part is, this is all part of original content, there'd be no need to worry about legalities. I have a computer science background so I can handle the technicalities.

What do you fellow filmmakers think of this concept? :)

Cool idea. Go with it -- good luck!

Steven Harris Anzelowitz

Sounds good!

Best wishes!

Folks do that all the time, videotape script readings and acting scenes.

Watching it is boring.

Actors sitting down, flipping pages & reading lines is not entertaining on Youtube or even live stage reading. Been to a few black list readings in big venues and scripts are generally dull because actors are reading, instead of acting & moving their feet

Kuhle Sikota

I want the Actors to prepare before time! The reason I wanted a big space was to get them moving their feet! :)

Dan MaxXx

Cool! Plan a 3-camera setup and boom microphones. Edit in post-production. Good Luck.

Steven Harris Anzelowitz

Kulhe- Dan makes good suggestions. If you want more advice go to the LOUNGE and click the DIRECTING tab and pose the same thread questions there. Good luck.

Kuhle Sikota You can post a job listing here on stage32 It's free. And I would go with what Dan MaxXx said 3 camera set up and boom microphones. Really best of luck. And also pose this same thread in the LOUNGE cinematography and directing tabs. S32 members LOVE to share and comment. That's what make this such a great fellowship. When I started my first screenplay 'HOPE SAVES MANHATTAN' I knew NOTHING about screenwriting I only know that I had a great TRUE New York Story to tell that I was a part of and struggled. Now (3) years later I have (3) copyrighted screenplays in development. Signed contract offers from some talented SAG/AFTRA New York Actors, a crew and a production company. All would not be possible without the following:Richard "RB" Botto Amanda Toney Tomasz Mieczkowski and the rest of the fellow members. So my advice to you is start networking heavily and you'll get it done.

Thank you so much Dan MaxXx and Steven Harris Anzelowitz for all the advice and anecdotes. I have recently just started a https://www.meetup.com/Cape-Town-Actor-Screenwriter-Meetup/ (Network) and have some one connected in the South African Film industry asking to meet me. So I am definitely going to network Strong and get this initiative rolling!

Steven Harris Anzelowitz

@Kuhle Sikota- Kudos. Good luck!!
