Is High Concept the Best Way for a New Screenplay Writer to be Read?

So I've been researching a lot and reading up as to what the screenplay market is looking for, in terms of screenplays from newer writers. What most have in common is that it is best for newer writers to have a high concept script which looking at the spec sales reports, kind of add up.

Now to my question, am I doing a disservice to myself by going for the ideas that are not as high concept but more independent and art house like Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird and Manchester by the Sea instead of something like Get Out and The Lobster?

Don't chase trends (you're always 5 years behind) and no screenwriter survives writing on specs.

Now if you are a writer-director, that's a different discussion. Every movie you mentioned were passion projects by Writer-Directors and all of them have track records & allies, partners.

I believe what these two respectable members of S32 said is true.

I also believe that everything you write, every character good or bad, micro or macro world they live in, existing or non existing universe, should be version of yourself, your soul and your own perception of everything you can think of. Not your own version of what Kubrick, Scorsese or Nolan have done. That's how you create your own piece of Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird or Manchester by the Sea.

It's 2018, people all over the world use internet, market is huge, bigger then ever. Making and watching movies becoming more affordable. More people wants to write, more to made and more to watch films. Your unique story will find a way. Everyone wants to see unique stories. But no one wants yours or mine version of Chris Nolan.
