Pass or Go

Hello all. Ive been working on my script that me and my family love. It's an animated script for kids that people of all ages can relate to being that they were a kid at one time. I'm 71 pages in, and wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get good advice on whether the concept is good to continue finding funding or scrapt the entire idea.

Eric Christopherson

You'll need a great concept and great execution of the concept to sell a script. You can hire an industry exec (see the "Happy Writers" tab on this site, for example) to give you feedback on your script once you finish it, but that costs. You could enter it in a contest or two and pay for feedback, but that costs too. You could write a logline for your script and post it here for free if you want to focus on just the script's concept for now because there are writers here with experience in the film industry who'd make good sounding boards. Good luck finishing your script!

Thanks.

I went to HW's and on one of the person's bio it said a separate diclosure had to be signed before he would read my script. Does any one of you know why a separate disclosure would need to be signed if I am paying for a service through here?

Anthony Moore

So that later on if you see a similar title or idea in production or already produced, you won't try to sue everyone involved for stealing your idea that may or may not be as original as you think.

Many people have similar ideas and some people sue at the drop of a hat, so legal protection up front is the best way to head off any potential problems.

Dan Guardino

He probably wants you to sign a "release form" so you don't sue him. Producers and some agencies will also ask you to sign a "release form."
