With a small investment of your time, you can elevate your story to its greatest heights at the beginning of your writing process, save yourself valuable time and optimize your creative energy.

Peer readers and professional coverage are excellent once you have a draft written, but what about those early stages of your story’s development?

Having a strong conceptual foundation from the beginning can speed up your writing and help reduce the extensive re-writes down the road.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to lay out your story challenges and have an attentive, kind, group of brilliant screenwriters listen to your challenges and share their ideas on how you might best serve your story, while it’s still in development—before you’ve written a bunch of dialogue and scenes that you later find your story didn’t need?

Wouldn’t you love to know before you begin writing, which characters and plots create the most intrigue for your audience?

Conceptually, this is my screenwriterly version of A/B testing.

Story Dev #storydevsundays is a great place to bring your ideas still in development to the round table for feedback on ideas you’ve got knocking around in your head that still need a bit of massaging before they are ready to live on the page.

My Promise

You’ll return to your screenwriting with actionable ideas, clearer focus, and a new excitement for your story.

Why do this?

Getting feedback during your story development helps you recognize new possibilities for your characters and your plots.

Our positive feedback will validate your strong ideas, and offer potential solutions and suggestions where you identify a weaknesses and are open to receiving helpful suggestions.

How we help each other

Story Dev is an informal but professional problem-solving session where ideas – no matter how crazy or outlandish – are explored without judgement.

How to prepare for Story Dev

Have one story in mind that you want to discuss.

Come up with a working title that we’ll use when we discuss your story.

You should be able to present your story and its challenges in less than 10 minutes.
