Hollywood Will Find You

I had a read of a blog post on Medium. Here's a snippet from what it says. Read the snippet and the blog (link below). Are you in agreement with this philosophy? Hollywood will find you?

"…Hollywood will find you.

Sale. Option. Representation. Writing sample. Writing assignments. Any/all of the above.

Sure, you will have to take that first step. Maybe you send 400 emails to people in the business. Or you submit your script to the Nicholl or Austin screenplay competitions. Or the Black List website.

No matter the entry point, a great script will always find its way to Hollywood… because Hollywood is always looking to find great scripts.

Yeah but…

There are no but’s. There are no excuses. There is nothing more to say about anything other than this: Write a great script.

Everything else will take care of itself.

You should be entirely focused on the writing, your script, your story, your craft.

Focus. On. The. Writing."

So if you're talented and really that good, then you're in for a cool life where you sell all your screenplays and get to see them as movies?:) It would be great, but only if you are a great writer...

The scariest part is: Someone already did this. The few screenwriters we all know their names and saw their movies. The sad part is that except one, all did this many, many years ago.. :(

I'd say connections and networking are far more important than a great script. Truly great scripts are the exception, but in such a noisy market, any great script can remain buried in noise. Plus, a great script means different things to different people. You need the connections, otherwise, there is a chance your great script will never be discovered by the people who are looking for that kind of greatness. A great script is 30%. The other 70% is making sure it reaches the right people.

Here I am. I'm ready for my Barton Fink deal.

I have heard it said.

“People are so desperate for great work. You could throw a great script out of a moving car. You’ll get calls before you get home”

Most important part “great work”.
