Interested in making just one film so far as the filmmaker and/or screenwriter,
I've been using this site mostly for the Pitch sessions. About a vampire story set in early 90's LA that has a Maltese Falcon twist to it all. I've have done about 6 pitch sessions so far with production companies. I rather do this then getting my screenplay approved to send out. Just wish I had 15-20 minutes instead.
Kinda feel 8 minutes is too short to pitch a movie judging by their reviews later and what they actually wanted to hear. The time allotted is almost impossible for that, actually 4-5 minutes if you give room for conversation. Been a bit perplexed I can't show my sizzle reel trailer before or after my pitch to help things along. Like talking to the production companies but not sure what they are looking for, why they are here. I hope it all not for cheap horror movies. Thinking of trying management companies if I do pitching again. Hope to turn my story into a novel in the meantime.
A first impression is that Hollywood doesn't know what they want but they just want every guarantee that you'll make it successful by hitting all the points of reassurance and familiarity
Thinking someday in the future of perhaps filming a segment of my script if I ever get out to LA to see if I can do it myself. I did a pretty successful movie poster as a designer recently. And my trailer isn't bad for the resources I had (stock clips with voiceovers). Not sure how the creative community works and joining this site was one of my first steps to look into that even though I've been a member for a while. Hope to get to explore the site and community furthermore in the months ahead.
