Best place to pitch for producing a short script?

Hey everyone!

So I have a 3 minute Recommend rated horror short script that I’m looking to get produced as a calling card of my work and in particular as a proof of concept for the feature, which I’m currently writing. I’ve spent The last year and half honing my craft on screenwriting and this will be the first of my scripts that I look to get produced. Most people say pitching is the best way but is this still true of shorts as opposed to features and what are the best places to pitch specifically for a short?

Thanks

Jaye

Do it yourself! Reach out to local filmmakers in your area (ck Craigslist Crew, Creative, TV/Film) and your local film commission. They'll be able to help you. Break a leg!

Best to do it yourself. Not too many people pitch a short, no profit in it, really, unless it is intended as a proof of concept for something else that would be marketable, a feature perhaps? Some writers post short scripts on script listing sites and may gain the interest of perhaps a film school or a small and/or just-starting-out production company looking for simple projects to create, etc. But if you wish to showcase or create a "calling card" of your work then have total creative control. Do it yourself. ;)

Awesome! Thanks Kay, Lindbergh and Beth for your completely aligned and enthusiastic feedback on this! Nothing more to say than...Here I go! DIY!

You gt it Jaye - just go do it and best wishes to you. Remember, if you don't like it the way it turns out - it's your project & you can shoot it over.

Thanks Doug and true words! Thanks all for the inspiration and kick! You’re all awesome!

Start learning how to make movies. That means from page to postproduction. Physically and mentally finish. Pay for it yourself. Learn from peers and do it again on a feature . Good Luck

Hi Jay. I'm a director who has done this POC bfore...Do you have a director yet? Thanks

Jaye Adams

Hi Dan, thanks for the encouraging words, I have just started taking courses with Raindance who are awesome and will definitely help me learn all the aspects of filmmaking and meet new people!

Hi Scott, nice to meet you and no I’ve not got anyone attached yet. I’m just starting my journey on getting this made. Your credits and resume are amazing! Can you tell me more about how you did your POC?
