What's a "lookbook" in regard to spec scripts?

Just got a request from a producer (via VPF) for the script plus a lookbook. What's that?

Kym Stover

I put together a Powerpoint presentation using those things.

I've assisted with a couple of film pitch decks that have included a lookbook / mood board. It's just a way to visually showcase your idea/script -set the tone/feel/mood. It can be a collage of images in PDF, part of a slide presentation, or even a video.

This YouTube vid is a couple of years old but will give you an idea...

OK, thanks. This kind of thing is not my strong suit, but I'll see what I can come up with.

Eric: I put together a pitch deck, which you can do on Power Point or other desk top publishing. Let me know if you need help and I'll send you a sample. I just helped another writer who caught on really quickly.

I'm starting one myself right now. I've written a feature that takes place in the 50's based on a true story, so it has a specific look and feel. I'm working on translating that into images on a page. Not my strong suit either...

Tony Ray

I'd never even heard of a lookbook before now. Very insightful.

Tim Bragg

So the lookbook is the same as a pitch deck?
