Greetings all,
I am seeking a room to rent for a period of between two weeks to a month (cash paid up front, host's complete discretion on duration) anywhere in or even reasonably near the greater Los Angeles area sometime after the New Year’s holiday season (starting approx. Jan 7th 2021).
I obviously plan to pay for these accommodations but because I am seeking to move to the area I am looking for the absolute cheapest options for lodgings in the beginning as to not to deplete my moving funds before I have found a job and more permanent housing.
My purpose for moving to the Los Angeles area is to finally chase down the dream of writing as a profession (or to finally kill the dream to the point that I can be satisfied I just don't have what it takes).
I am an extremely clean, quiet, non-smoker, non-drinker, friendly small town type of person. Since I will be hard at work during the day seeking both jobs and writing/freelance videography (my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs_T-bX5FC6tGxqi-BLb_6Q ) opportunities I wouldn't be around much to be in your hair. I am also a veteran and someone who is very used to a 'spartan' lifestyle so accommodations don't need to be fancy in the slightest. All I need is a place to sleep (even a couch in a quiet room), an outlet to charge my phone/laptop, and bathroom access (3/4 days a week I will shower at the gym). I can/will provide my own bedding, toiletries, food, etc. The only other thing I can think I would require would be a place to park my small car at night.
I also am a very hard worker with some minor handy man skills who would love to trade work in place of some or all of rent if that is something you would be interested in. No job is beneath me from landscaping to cleaning. I’d also appreciate any leads on day-to-day cash work or long term employment leads anyone might know of.
Now I also understand that we live the age of COVID and there is and may still be travel restrictions in place in Los Angeles even after the holidays so I will put simply that if you or anyone close to you has any concerns in that regard PLEASE do not consider my request. I am a perfectly healthy adult and while I always comply with mask mandates and wash/sanitize my hands at every opportunity I would hate to even add to someone’s stress level much less actually get someone sick.
While in Los Angeles I would also love to meet other writers for coffee and writing conversation. I’ve taken several writing workshop classes and thoroughly enjoy the collaborative process.
