Hey fellow creatives! I’m doing some research on the current mood of the filmmaking environment before jumping into my next project. I invite all thoughts considering the below statement: ‘Only the most visionary ideas likely to generate sustainable growth will be selected in order to deliver excellent financial returns to investors.’ My question: How viable would developing and pitching concepts of movie musicals be right now? And... Go!

Most successful movie musicals in recent years have had their genesis in the theater. But because of Covid-19, there have been no hit theatrical productions in the past year to encourage such adaptations. And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one.

I'd pitch (tweak if necessary) animation friendly, major studios are this very minute turning thrillers into cartoon, so why not a musical? There's nothing to stop it being "live" post pandemic as End Game in part of an "Eco system" in Transmedia. EG Novelette, social media fan base, animation, book, Multi Media and when life's back normal "And now meet the cast in person." Art's down but not out, build up interest, show ace up your sleeve last, RATHER than binning cool idea cos of Covid. And for people with a drama, Alexa audio drama's were big even before virus hit. Re purpose and extend narrative tapestry rather than bury it.
