Moviegoers’ Confidence To Return To Cinemas During Covid Hits Record Level – NRG Poll

"Even though the domestic box office remains in a funk due to the pandemic, moviegoers’ confidence has hit a record high near 50%, according to recent data by NRG. Moviegoers’ recent upbeat attitude to return to the cinema also outpaced poll results from the fall, which was the last time it was at a notable level during Covid" https://deadline.com/2021/02/box-office-moviegoing-covid-pandemic-nrg-re...

"NRG has been polling frequent moviegoers over three times a week since the Covid crisis began. A frequent moviegoer is defined as a person who attends once a month." - this is a very narrow sample group for their results, which one relies upon only if one wants to show what those who LOVE the experience think. However, "once-a-month" movie goers are by far not the bulk of movie goers, to my understanding of the economics. In other words, this is an exercise in hopeful propaganda, not actual analysis. I personally doubt cinema will come back anywhere near the same as it was, as the clear intended trajectory of mainstream is to dump it sooner or later and they have defacto had to do that already during the "covid" event.

Awesome share Scott Schulman! Once again, you're bringing some much needed good news to the community and the industry. I think there will always be that desire for a communal experience in cinema just like with live theater. I'm ready to be back in a theater watching an "event" film. I won't even mind the kid behind me kicking my seat.
