Introduce Yourself : Actress, screenwriter, artist, storyteller. by Nancy Brady

Nancy Brady

Actress, screenwriter, artist, storyteller.

Hi Everyone, I am excited to be part of this group and to learn and network. I live in New Mexico and have been doing background in many movies and tv shows filmed here for the past couple of years, minus the covid year. I also have taken many classes in acting with wonderful Sol Acting Academy and their amazing educators from here and LA. I was inspired to take some screenwriting courses during covid lockdown and have my story. It is my first, but now want to network to learn how to professionally produce this. I just signed up for a class here and want to network with anyone who is a nubie in the world of making movies and telling stories. What worked, what didn't, and how do you stay positive and motivated? Who are great people to connect with? That's all for now!!

Hey, Nancy! Welcome to the community, we're so glad to have you! Dude - background acting is a fantastic way to get into the industry! Actually, I'd love for you to post in the Acting Lounge - maybe you could discuss what you've learned while on set? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting

Ooo, what class did you sign up for? I'm currently in a lab with Spencer Robinson, a fantastic and knowledgeable talent/lit manager. Since you're also a filmmaker and producer, definitely check out the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing) and the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing). I think you'll find some of those discussions have already started, but if you don't find them, feel free to get the conversation going with your own post!

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!

Hello Karen, Thank you for the warm welcome!

I would be happy to post what I learned about being on set doing background. The experience changed my life and inspired me to take classes and now writing.

I signed up for Writing, Directing & Distributing Your Short Film (On-Demand), I haven't started it yet. Life is a bit busy lately and I am thinking that I need to have a little escape to focus on writing, learning, etc. Hard sometimes with interruptions from my hubby and pup. How do people deal with daily life interrupting the muse?

I also want to add that I have created a documentary with a new film company of one wonderful person. I have also gotten a speaking role in a short and being the person in front of the camera, with a director, and other actors was amazing. Harder than I thought. I look at all of this as a learning experience and I LOVE it all.
