I am just amazed and so grateful for the posts and comments by others in this group. I have already learned so much. I used to live in Torrance, and worked in Manhattan Beach. At that time, my dad worked for Bill Romel Oldsmobile, and he had a customer who was a fashion designer. That was my post-high school ambition; so I have fond memories of this area. I also picked up a stray cat who was being fed by a restaurant in the business district I worked in. I really want to thank you for being willing to share your wisdom and intelligence with me!
I always loved Oldsmobiles. One of the best cars ever was the 1970-71 Cutlass. I was a kid back then and all I could afford was a 62 Studebaker Lark. Cars are always on my mind. I gave my grandson my old 64 MGB last month. The only time I carried a cell phone was when I drove that car...tended to break down some. My wife loved that MGB.
@Eric: My dad was a career GM guy, and he always said Oldsmobiles were the best! I preferred Cadillacs, but was considering a metallic pale lilac-colored Aurora before GM discontinued the Oldsmobile line. Believe-it-or-not, one of my fondest memories as a child was going to work with my dad. As a toddler, he would show me off to the office staff (my parents groomed me at a young age to be an entertainer), and I would wander around the dealership as I got older. My mom and I accompanied him on weekends to inventory parts at different dealerships; the ritual of addressing Christmas cards also fell to us. He drove a new car every year, and New Car Showings were fun-filled evenings. Of course, my first real job was working as his secretary. He gifted me with a 442 for my 16th birthday, complete with paint color and carpet flooring to my specifications. Man! So many memories around car dealerships. Is that weird?
I own a 2015 Mustang and 2002 Thunderbird along with my big Navigator to pull the boat. My fondest car was that old Studebaker Lark. It was my first cat and always started. My kids called it the Stupidbaker. Went on a bunch of lake vacations in the Studebaker. I'm a car guy for sure. I always regretted GM discontinuing the Olds and Pontiac brands.
Great to meet you, Janet Wise, and welcome to the community! Aww, thanks so much for the kind words, that really means a lot. What are you working on now?

Karen "Kay" Ross You are always welcoming to all :)
My brother-in-law works at the local Ford dealership. Guess what, I'm a Ford man now.
Why thank you, @Hunter! It's easy, though - because all are welcome!
