Introduce Yourself : Here goes by Caroline Dean

Here goes

So I’m stepping into screenwriting, I’ve written one, 70 pages, I’ve started my second and have the title and ideas for my third, seems I’ve turned on a tap,I’m really enjoying the writing, my questions is, is entering them into comps and sending them off in coverage the best way to get some feedback on structure etc, definitely found my voice and genre

Eric Sollars

That's pretty much how I do it. It's brutal world for spec scripts.

Thank you Eric, it must be such an amazing feeling to see something you have written on screen, play out as it’s been in your head,

Great to meet you, Caroline Dean, and welcome to the community! Congratulations on moving into screenwriting! Are you hoping for this to be a feature?

If you're looking for feedback, my suggestion would be:

1) Ask for script exchanges - peer notes you "pay for" by giving notes back.

2) Professional Coverage - this is an industry-standard, and you'll want it before you submit it for competitions or contests.

3) Executive consultations - especially if you're hoping to sell the script or fund the production. They will help you to understand how producers will relate to your material.

BUT if you're writing it to shoot it, then the only validation you need is from your cast and crew ;-)

But don't take my word for it - why not post in the Screenwriting Lounge and get more feedback from the community: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting

Hi Karen, thank you, wow, really great advice thank you, I think all of the above would be really useful.

I’m knee deep in the writing at the moment, I’ve three projects which stand alone but follow the protagonist.

Really so glad to have found Stage32
