I'm a published author. (This is my first post to the site!) Fiction. The last novel (from way back...2014) was longlisted for Canada's Giller Prize. Then I changed literary agents (my previous one retired). Then I changed agents again (for a host of reasons). And then I found a new agent and, at the same time, my writing pivoted. Well, not really, but the book business (like the movie business) likes its labels and I moved into a new aisle in the bookstore. I went from writing "literary" to something more like "cli-fi" or "literary cli-fi" and more "speculative" fiction. My agent, who is a leading literary agent with big name clients, couldn't sell the work. Not because it was bad but because he didn't know the right editors. So now I'm looking for a new literary agent. I have three unpublished manuscripts (a duology and a stand alone story).
That's not why I'm posting!
I think the unpublished manuscripts are very filmable. I'm sure 98% of all fiction writers believe this about their work. So much content so little time! But, well, I do think they're filmable. The duology, besides being "literary cli-fi" is also, for want of a better term, the basis of an action movie. There are explosions and deaths and shoot outs.
I'm not sure what I'm getting at. Nothing is going to happen before I find a new agent and the work is sold. Or is it?
Welcome here Arjun. Well, by definition, no, nothing will "happen" until something sells - because that's what has to happen.

Yeah. I think I just wanted to share. It felt like part of the process...
Welcome, Arjun Basu. What is cli-fi?

Hi there. Cli-fi is sci-fi but without space and with climate. So the future earth with impacts of climate shift. Here's a brief introduction: https://meansandmatters.bankofthewest.com/article/living/brief-history-of-cli-fi-fiction-thats-hooking-readers-on-climate-action/

Having published 16 books, with three through traditional publishers, I agree with everything you said. :)
