Introduce Yourself : Cinematographer by Shaw H. Burrows

Cinematographer

Other than I got my first camera at five and my first movie camera at seven where should I start? Well that was 1965 and 67 respectively so needless to say I’ve been doing this for a very long time.

I am a no BS kind of guy who likes to laugh and have fun on a set while still running a very tight ship. I still prefer film over digital and getting it right on set in less than five takes. Film teaches you that. I shoot digital like it’s film. I prefer to work with my own AC and GE leads, we’ve been working together since 2005 and I play well with others!

Since the pandemic, I’ve worked from home as a mentor consultant to first time filmmakers. Co-Producing two features from the back deck of our Florida home. One of them, Can’t get it right, will be premiered in Atlanta next month. The other, The legend of Jack and Diane, will start principal photography in January 22.

All in all I have 45 years in the industry as a paid position. If you think any of those years may be of use to you, then please, reach out to me. I’m not hard to find!

All the best

Be safe!

Hi Sean, there is something to be said for a cinematographer with grey hair. There is simply no substitute for experience. Where in Florida do you live? I am working on several projects and looking for a cinematographer to collaborate with here in Florida that knows more than I do. I've only been at it 35 years. ;)
