Introduce Yourself : Morning all, from sunny (heatwave) England! by Craig McLearie

Morning all, from sunny (heatwave) England!

Morning everyone.

This is (I think) my second post in "Introduce Yourself". Since then I have 11 (11!!) feature films that I've written due for release over the course of the next year. I got involved with a couple of production companies who make low-budget feature films, and at the height of working with them I was writing 1 or 2 a month. As of May this year things have died down and they've moved on to other projects, which has allowed me the time to focus on my other writing.

I missed out on the hype of Pooh: Blood & Honey, as that was one that I was asked to write for them. I submitted a draft to them, but they decided to go in a different direction and used my screenplay as a basis and rewrote it, so it was no longer my work. In retrospect, I'm glad I wasn't involved in it, because it got bigger than it was intended to, and sometimes you don't want to be typecast as "that type of writer".

On to bigger and better things... I've written a WW2 feature which I'm looking to find a Producer/Financier/Distributor in the hopes of making it myself. I have all the groundwork laid out, even the military vehicle that is the centre of the story, and have begin casting. The intention is that it will be shot in the UK on a shoestring budget, but focus more on the characters.

Anyway.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Wow, that many scripts is prolific! How are you able to organize your writing schedule to be able to crank out that much work? It’s really impressive.

Thank you, Amanda Toney. Some were more difficult than others, but usually they have a Treatment for me to follow, which makes it easier, and then it's just write, write, write! Day and night! Having an image of the structure in your mind helps immensely when you're visualising how it'll play out. They're low budget, so there's no big settings or action, and they give me notes on what they're incapable of accomplishing on the limited budget they have as I go.
