Screenwriting : Which platform has worked best for you? by Mr Daniel Padbury

Mr Daniel Padbury

Which platform has worked best for you?

I now have won 20+ competitions, have profiles on Coverfly, Stage32, ISA and Script Revolution. Where have you had most success in optioning or gaining representation? Also across 11 works I have only created 3 bibles. Do I really need the pitchdeck, reels, treatment etc that all these sites seem to suggest?

Twitter.

Personally, creating bibles, pitch decks, posters is all a waste of time and your mental energy.

Congratulations on the awards, Mr Daniel Padbury! And welcome to the community.

I mainly use Stage 32 and Twitter, but I've had the most success on Stage 32. I've built a ton of relationships/networked on Stage 32, sold short scripts, found projects, learned a lot, most of my paid jobs come through Stage 32, etc.

I recommend making (or getting someone to make) pitch decks, posters, and treatments for your feature scripts. If you create a show, I recommend a pitch deck, poster, and show bible. I make those things for my feature scripts and shows, and they've helped me get script requests. I don't make pitch decks for short scripts, but I make posters and treatments for short scripts. Posters helped me sell my short scripts on Stage 32.

Hi Daniel, you might consider becoming a member of our Writers' Room if you aren't already. It's a great resource for writers who are ready to take their careers to the next level.

Sam Mannetti

Hey Daniel, would love to learn more about what you are writing and point you to all the resources we have to offer on Stage 32. Shoot me an email at success@stage32.com and let me know a little more about your scripts so we can see how best to help you!

Hey Daniel, I want to make sure you’re getting the correct information - Dan Maxx is wrong as it relates to creating pitch decks and bibles being a waste of time. There has not been one show I’ve sold that has not required a pitch deck. I talk to executives every single day and it’s a prerequisite for projects now these days. I’d highly recommend you connect with Sam Mannetti from this thread - he and his team can assist in your career.

Got my first feature optioned over Script Revolution, got my first feature gig over Twitter, got a 2x poster gig right here, got many peers connections over dozen other platforms....networking works.

Btw, none of this over pitch decks...but you need one, talk to me :)
