Looking to prove you don't have to sling it in Los Angeles!

Hey everyone, I'm looking forward to this community. I've heard some pretty amazing things about the platform! I'm soon to be relocating from Los Angeles, CA to Austin, TX. I previously graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Cinematography degree. I've been in LA now for about 8 years. During my time here in LA, I worked for a well known Camera store where I taught myself how to build cine-modded cameras and apprenticed under a seasoned lens technician, then I moved into becoming a lens technician at Sigma servicing Cinema lenses. For the last 4 years I have been part of a rapidly growing start-up lens rehousing company, Zero Optik, working as a Senior lens technician and an Assistant engineer in lens design. Some of the lenses I've built and worked on have been used on, Top Gun: Maverick, Carpool Karaoke, Jay Leno's Garage, Joker, Atlanta, Justice League (Snydercut), Snowpiercer TV series, Army of the Dead, and the upcoming Snyder feature Rebel Moon. I've had the honor and opportunity to educate productions and cinematographers on creative visual choices. I create and cater a DP's "Paint Pallette" to help aid the vision of their storytelling. My goal has always been to understand, share, and bridge the divide that is the "creative" with the "technical". I live and breath lenses and visual storytelling and would love to assist in any way I can to simplify the magic that is the technical side of the industry. Stepping away from one of the newest and most disruptive lens companies in the world, I am looking to chart my own course in Austin and help ground it as it's own little disruptive part of "Hollywood".

Welcome, Jordan! I'm so glad that you've joined Stage 32! You should definitely check out the Cinematography lounge as well. I'm sure that many of the members there would love to learn more about your experience working on lenses and talk about the gear side of the industry. https://www.stage32.com/lounge/cinematography

Hello Jordan! From reading articles and listening to podcasts, I hear Austin is becoming little Hollywood. You are in great company and how fascinating your experiences with the lens. Wishing you all the best and maybe I'll see you on set.
