Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend! - the Consultation

For Introduce Yourself Weekend I thought I’d mention a consultation I had yesterday with Clayton Conroy of UTA. The piece he reviewed is a steampunk space opera called, “The Jupiter Chronicles”. You can find the logline on my profile.

Clayton was very cordial and relational, I enjoyed the time and I thought it was a good relational seed that was planted. He wanted to learn more about how I got into screenwriting.

About the story:

• Format is great.

• World is great - Got a sense that it was massive.

• A lot of opportunity.

• This can be a feature - if chosen, expand to 85 pages

• Or it can be a mini-series - if chosen, 8 episodes, 45 minutes ea.

• The choice of feature or mini-series was left up to me. I’m a sucker for features though.

• Clayton loved the characters. He wanted to spend more time with the kids.

• You (writer) are very visual.

• You (writer) propel the action forward very well.

• Callie shines.

• Worth expanding.

• He loved it. Very engrossing and he wanted to stay with the characters longer.

• This is very epic.

• His favorite genres are historical fiction and science fiction. He thought it was very cool that this happened to hit both.

He gave me some other ideas which I will implement. I honestly hope that I have the opportunity to speak to him again at some point. It's seldom that I meet someone who wants to give feedback and make the story better which I am grateful for. Collaboration is always an enjoyable process for me.

I highly recommend Clayton.

I'm an author turned screenwriter who writes fantasy and science fiction. I also have works in other genres in the pipeline. ;o)

Amanda Toney

Clayton is an incredible Stage 32 mentor and that is some excellent feedback from him. Love that collaborative process you had. Your project sounds really cool. What inspired you to write it?

Leonardo Ramirez

Amanda Toney My daughter! She was 8 years old at the time. I was sitting on my couch working on something else and she came down the stairs and sweetly said, "Daddy, why don't you write a story about a brother and sister who rescue their daddy on another planet?"

I immediately threw away what I was working on and simply said, "OK". And from there I went on to a massive world-building expedition. She also inspired the character of Callie.

Maurice Vaughan

"The Jupiter Chronicles" has HIT written all over it! Great title, exciting concept, interesting characters, stunning visuals, unique world, merchandise and spin-off potential. I'm a fan already, Leonardo Ramirez!

Leonardo Ramirez

Maurice Vaughan Always the encourager! Thank you my friend! You’re right. This one has enough story to last a decade.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Leonardo Ramirez. One spin-off could be about the Martian invaders.

Geoff Hall

Leonardo Ramirez I’ve really enjoyed our Zoom calls and talks about the Jupiter Chronicles, Leonardo. I agree with Maurice, it has HIT written all over it. Now, I hope you find a Producer on Stage32 who can help you get it into Production.

Leonardo Ramirez

Maurice Vaughan Agreed! There’s a lot of Martian history outlined already including what their reasoning was for the invasion to begin with and how they ended up in the predicament they’re in.

Leonardo Ramirez

Geoff Hall Our Zoom calls are such a joy and source of encouragement, my friend. And I’m with you - I hope we find a producer here who understands the work.

Geoff Hall

Leonardo Ramirez hallelujah and pass the whiskey. Here’s to a fruitful year for us both.

Niki H

Hi Leonardo! So glad to hear you had a nice call with Clayton.

Leonardo Ramirez

Geoff Hall Amen to that, my friend. Exponentially fruitful!

Leonardo Ramirez

Niki H Hey Niki! Good to hear from you. Yes, it was awesome. I've incorporated all the changes into the script and I'm insanely happy with it.

Roni Keller
