I am not a professional screenplay yet. Currently, I am on the first step. I am building on my portfolio. I promised myself that I am going to have five screenplay ready to go, but I realized the quantity over quality: so, I have three screenplays that I loved into my portfolio. I still have screenplays concepts and outline ready for me to use. I am going to edit and rewrite them. After that, I’ll happily get ready to send them to directors.

A director is good if they have a bit of a reputation. This will attract actors, as they like working with certain directors. Actors will bring producers as they know there is money in a particular cast.
Having said all that. I have only had luck with producers.
My career goals are still just drama indies. I love that space. But I also have an opportunity to pitch a series into the BBC. That is a long shot. But a producer I have worked with from the UK has a development deal there. I received “what you got kicking around “ chat.

That's not too difficult of a question to answer. It is easy for me to answer. However, it may not be as easy to accomplish. This morning, I pretty much completed a feature screenplay. My goal: for a producer and director to put it on film and in front of an audience.

Dan, Ihad the same thought. Directors are looking for something to shoot, producers are looking for something to own. I have had success with producers.

Bintou Kaba hi Bintou, please remember that directors are not money people. You need to get your screenplays into the hands of Producers; they are at the business end of the industry/process. You can check out Script Services on this site for help with that.

Bintou Kaba have you had notes and feedback on the scripts prior to rewrites and polishing?

Hey, Bintou Kaba. I have a few career goals. One of my main goals is to sell some of my feature spec scripts. Four steps I'm taking to reach that goal are networking, reading scripts (to get better as a writer), watching webinars (also to get better as a writer), and learning more about the business side of the industry. Hope you (and everyone) reach your goals!

I have a long way to go. If I even ever get there at all, but my goal is to always learn, keep writing and eventually do assignments. Also listening to what producers want and look for.
