Your Stage : Adventures in Scoring and Producing by Ed Hartman

Adventures in Scoring and Producing

I am a composer and film producer, based in Seattle. In 2017, I scored and produced an award-winning, never-released 1938 silent sci-fi film, "As the Earth Turns." The film was made by Richard Lyford in Seattle when he was 20 years old (His 9th film!). It was in many festivals and is in distribution (Amazon, Tubi, etc.) It was also shown on TCM.

In 2021, I followed up with an award-winning short documentary, "It Gets in Your Blood," about the director of that film. It was also in many festivals. Also, I have been working on a biopic screenplay about Richard Lyford's first 20 years in Seattle. The story is compelling, and I hope to produce it, ideally in the Pacific Northwest.

This year, as I was going through the filmmakers' film stock (I own the film estate), I discovered footage for a 1936 short silent horror film by a then 19-year-old Lyford, "The Scalpel," that previously was only a fragment. The complete film has been professionally scanned, restored, edited, scored, mixed, and mastered. It is now in a festival run. As a short, distribution is limited, but as a package with other Lyford films, theatrical presentations are possible.

Anyone interested in any of the above projects can contact me via my website.

Thanks very much,

Ed Hartman
