Hi my Stage32 Familia! It was an awesome evening with RB, Amanda, Nick, Kay, Ashley, and everyone (I saw you lurking Maurice :>)
Btw, here are my 4 Talking Points for my Sci-fi/horror/thriller, "Isolation"
The team behind this project:
Me, for now. My Vision:
My vision for this project is to create a tense, atmospheric sci-fi thriller that merges psychological depth with visceral, edge-of-your-seat suspense. I want to craft an immersive experience where the audience feels the claustrophobia of the damaged space lab, the relentless dread of being hunted, and the emotional toll of Rachel’s journey. The setting becomes a character itself—cold, vast, and indifferent—mirroring Rachel’s internal struggle as she battles not just the external threats of Chester and AIRI, but also her own resilience and will to survive.
Why I’m the Best Person to Bring This Story to Life:
My creative background, combined with a passion for character-driven sci-fi stories, makes me uniquely equipped to bring “Isolation” to life. I thrive on building tension and creating layered, relatable characters like Rachel - people who are pushed to their breaking point yet still manage to find the strength to fight back.
My storytelling draws inspiration from iconic sci-fi films such as Alien and Gravity, where the central character’s emotional journey is as compelling as the external threats they face. I bring an ability to blend thrilling, visceral moments with deep emotional resonance, ensuring the audience connects with Rachel’s struggles on a personal level. This project isn’t just a survival story; it’s an experience—one that will linger in the minds of the audience long after the credits roll.
Above all, I believe in the power of stories that challenge characters to their core, and I’m deeply committed to delivering Rachel’s journey as both an exhilarating thrill ride and a poignant exploration of human endurance.
High-Level Budget Estimate
A project like “Isolation” falls into the mid-budget range for a sci-fi thriller, estimated at $20M to $30M, depending on the scale of the production and talent attached. Here’s a breakdown of key expenses:
Visual Effects (VFX):
The film’s setting in a space lab and the depiction of Chester’s mutation require detailed, high-quality VFX. These effects will create the claustrophobic, damaged lab, Chester’s grotesque appearance, and the haunting void of space. VFX could account for 30%-35% of the budget.
Production Design:
The space lab is a critical character in itself. Building a modular, detailed set for the lab, airlocks, and corridors would be essential. Estimated at 15%-20% of the budget.
Casting & Talent:
With Rachel Madison as the sole human protagonist for much of the film, securing a strong lead actor is essential. Supporting characters, such as the engineer and pre-mutation Chester (potentially motion-capture), add nuance but won't inflate costs. Estimated at 20%.
Practical Effects:
Animatronics, makeup, and costuming for Chester’s pre- and post-mutation stages, combined with practical on-set effects like zero-gravity rigs and atmospheric details, will enhance realism. Estimated at 10%-15%.
Post-Production:
Given the need for a polished, immersive sound design, detailed CGI, and color grading to reflect the starkness of space, post-production will require 15%-20% of the budget.
Marketing and Distribution:
For a global audience, including genre enthusiasts, the marketing strategy will rely on trailers, digital campaigns, and partnerships with streaming platforms or theatrical distributors. Estimated at 10%-15% of the budget.
It's a great idea. You've done a great job. I would like to know what is the uniqueness of the project? what makes it unique as a horror and what is in it from science fiction. I like science fiction, I want to know what technologies and their future applications you have come up with.

Hi Arthur! I'm glad you like it. It's unique in its own right, unlike traditional horror settings (haunted houses or remote forests), the damaged space lab offers an unparalleled sense of claustrophobia and isolation.
Most horror films focus on one main threat, but "Isolation" pits the protagonist against two distinct enemies: like Aliens (Facehugger and Xenomorph)
The science fiction element: is the cutting edge of AI technology but also its inherent risks. The AI’s malfunction explores the dangers of unregulated autonomy in space, raising questions about the ethics of prioritizing mission objectives over human life. The concept of using gamma radiation and nanotechnology explores speculative science grounded in real research.
The horror element: Chester embodies body horror with his grotesque, unnatural mutations, a once-cuddly chimp transformed into a horrific predator.
AIRI delivers psychological horror, trapping Rachel in an unrelenting game of manipulation where every decision could lead to her doom.

Haha DD Myles. I was listening to the AMA, checking/liking the AMA comments, doing things on Stage 32, and working on my November Write Club script during the AMA. Busy night. You're right. It was an awesome evening.
"Animatronics, makeup, and costuming for Chester’s pre- and post-mutation stages, combined with practical on-set effects like zero-gravity rigs and atmospheric details, will enhance realism." Yes! More practical effects in movies! I'll like to see more animatronics movies too!
I think Isolation is gonna be an incredible movie! Great job on the talking points! I was hooked by "I want to craft an immersive experience where the audience feels the claustrophobia of the damaged space lab, the relentless dread of being hunted, and the emotional toll of Rachel’s journey," especially "I want to craft an immersive experience where the audience feels the claustrophobia of the damaged space lab."
