HI All, So, like most ambitious indie filmmakers, I also had the same equipment worries before deciding to start shooting my first feature-length film in 2015. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to make a film without a professional-grade cinema camera and a whole slew of other pricey tools for equipment. It took a while for me to dispel those concerns and free myself to commence with my project. Ultimately, by using the equipment that I had available to me at the time, which did not include a high-end cinema camera, I successfully produced a film that found its way on UK television screens, online film streaming platforms, and even a large cinema screening. I mention this not to boast, but rather to alleviate any apprehensions you may have about not having the most advanced or “ideal” filming equipment at your disposal. Since then I created a free short bite-sized 4 page PDF that delves deeper into equipment-related considerations. My attempt with it is to share with you what my thought-process and decision making was around this area, and to give you more self-confidence and a sense of control over the completion of your own film project. Hi, Steve Conway. Exactly. Use what you have. I recorded a film (a really short short film) with a friend using a camcorder we had around the apartment. It wasn't the greatest film, but we made a film. Thanks for sharing the PDF with the community.
