Hi! I'm Kris Francoeur, and author and ghostwriter from Vermont, now looking at making the jump into screenplays. I have recently completed my first screenplay, based upon my novel The Stained-Glass Window, and am now working on polishing it. I am loving reading all your posts, and am learning so, so much!

Welcome Kristin Francoeur fellow author and ghostwriter! I am also making that leap. What was one takeaway from your experience turning your novel into a screenplay that you could share?

Greetings Kristin Francoeur I hope you are well and I’m glad that you are finding the Stage32 community a useful place to be.
How was the process of adapting your novel to the screenplay format? What did you learn about creating an adaptation?

Hi Maurice, Kat, and Geoff -- thanks for the warm welcome! One takeaway from the process of creating the adaptation was the need to learn the different formatting needed for a screenplay. Especially when I was caffeine-deprived, I would find myself reverting into novel format. I also really enjoyed the challenge of looking for how to take the main character's inner dialogue (the novel was written in first-person) and make it into dialogue. Now, I've started a from-scratch screenplay which is really fun.

You're welcome, Kristin Francoeur. "I would find myself reverting into novel format." I can relate. I wrote a short story a while back, and I kept wanting to write in script format. What's your plan for your script after you finish polishing it?
