It's a great article, one I would say is an essential read among so many filmmaking articles. Hope it was insightful and enjoyable to you both.
LOL...If I could change my s's to c's it would include cite curvey...the first thing list is camera angles, to amplify on that, the first thing I do in picking or doing anything on location is scope out the background, unlike the the Olympics or a runway at an opening, we can't create nice backgrounds for scenes we shoot...yes you need a great camera angle, but you also need to scope out what's being shot in the background...we shot a half dozen western scenes in a low budget indie until it became blatently apparent that the "head on the pole was plastic, not stuffed, and the lanterns were tiki torches..." You need to look at the surroundings and make sure they fit your genre...you need to make sure the picture on the wall doesn't have a 1930's car in a 1880's movie or the books on the shelf aren't plastic comb bound or have dewey decimal system tags before it was invented..
