Hi. I have recently returned to my acting training and have been reflecting on my journey. In particular how acting has transformed me off-stage. I feel more connected to my body and my instincts. I'm more trusting of them and bolder about going for what I want in terms of professional goals (to act, to coach actors and eventually to produce). I'm curious about what you feel are the benefits of acting to how you show up in your life off-stage?

Great question Alexandra Stevens I would say for me acting has helped me to be more present. When I am on stage I am fully present and completely in the moment. How often when we are out and about, especailly when alone, do we find our mind wandering, thinking about bills, past conversations, all the things we got to do etc. Tolle, Dyer, their enilightenment techniques are just like the techniques I learn in acting class. Stay present, just be in the moment, conneccted to self and others, the energy around you. Be aware of what your body is trying to tell you, it often knows the truth before your mind does. And acting is very much about mind body connection. One of the mantras I repeat to myself from Eckhart Tole, "There are no problems in the present. " That is so true in acting. When we are acting we are not thinking, we are doing. Not judging what is happening, just allowing it. Taking it in, and responding in the moment. Then letting it go. Mind blown. Never thought that what I learned in acting class is also the key to raising my vibration and being my best self. And I still struggle daily with this even after decades of acting!

Suzanne Bronson what a great answer! It makes me want to see more of you acting. I feel inspired reading your words and reminded about what I also love about acting - when i can get it right - the 'just being in the present moment' of a scene. I also resonate with you that being present off-stage is an ongoing challenge. It does give me some consolation to think that whatever does or does not happen with my acting career, acting has already given me lots of gifts.

I think acting is very important for writers. Every writer should have some experience with acting. Acting helps to develop more concise writing skills.
