Hi everyone,
My name is Koby Nguyen, I’m a 19-year-old writer and filmmaker from France/Vietnam. I love to explore the links between science, philosophy, and cinema, and I share many of my thoughts on Medium.
Here, I write about cosmic origins, black holes as fathers, white holes as mothers, time, emotion, and how all this inspires my screenplays and films. If you’re interested in these themes or want to exchange ideas, I’d love to discuss!

hi Koby Nguyen My journey into acting started with a love for philosophy. While searching for answers about what it means to be truly human, I came across Stanislavski’s An Actor Prepares. He spoke about living fully, not acting mechanically—and that “the main factor in any form of creativity is the life of the human spirit.” Since then, acting has been my path—and that book is always with me (on my phone, of course). Do you write philosophical scripts? And how do you bring those ideas into your scripts?

Hi Inessa Kraft ,
Thank you for your message. I have to say, my writing and filmmaking come from a very personal place—what I live, what I observe, the people I meet. I’m the kind of person who sits down at night to talk with strangers, shares stories with grandmothers, listens deeply. For me, cinema and writing are ways to transform all these moments—beautiful or difficult—into something meaningful.
I was born in Vietnam and came to France when I was quite young. I moved a lot, lost friends, made new ones, and met so many different people. My childhood at home was sometimes difficult, but I’ve always believed in happiness. I won’t tell my whole story here, but today, I’m still young—I’m 19—I finished my studies in fashion and design, and I’ve worked with my parents in our family’s Asian restaurant. Right now, I’m taking time to write, to try new things. I don’t know where it will lead me, but it feels good. I hope I’ll be able to make my short film, Too Late, I Love the Blue.
I never try to force philosophy into my scripts; it comes naturally, inspired by real life, by listening and feeling. Like you, I believe the human spirit is at the heart of creativity. Sometimes I write films, sometimes I write about the universe, sometimes I just try to make music from what I feel.
The Theory of Everything touched me a lot when I was younger, and I think I’m now trying to find my own way of talking about the universe and our place in it—not like Hawking, but in my own way.
Thank you for your interest, and thank you again for your inspiring words. I’d love to hear more about how your personal journey shapes your scripts and your acting.
