Introduce Yourself : Upcoming Film by Maunice Bester

Upcoming Film

Hi everyone. I’m Maunice Claudia. I am a 3rd year film production student. We have just shot our proof of concepts/“trailers” for our film ideas.

My film concept is something I have been working on for nearly a year, and the name of the film is “Madeline”.

The story is about a young mother of five who is stuck in an abusive marriage. It plays off in the 70’s & 80’s and is actually based on my grandmother’s life story.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about this project please let me know!

What are you currently working on?

(The attached photo is just makeup we did for the proof of concept. My younger sister played Madeline)

Hi, Maunice Bester. Nice to meet you. Madeline sounds interesting, and it deals with an important topic! I think it's great that you're making a film based on your grandmother’s life story! I'm looking forward to seeing it!

I'm almost done with the first draft of a script I'm ghostwriting. I'm also rewriting two feature scripts, outlining a feature, and outlining a short script.

Congrats! How many trailers/proof of concepts have you shot? It's so incredible that you were able to bring your grandmother's story to life. If you'd like to email us the trailers at Success@stage32.com, I'd love to take a look and see if we can help in any way. We have a few executives who recently told us they want to look at proof of concepts and advise students on where to take projects. You could speak to them through the Reel Review Consultation page or the Career Development Call page: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices.

Hi Maunice Bester, thank you so much for sharing your project with us. Madeline sounds incredibly powerful and deeply personal. The fact that it’s inspired by your grandmother’s story adds such emotional weight and authenticity, and I admire your courage in bringing it to life.

Hi, nice to meet you

Geoff Hall

Maunice Bester congratulations on your work ethic, Maunice. What are you enjoying most about your course?

I’m currently working in four projects:

An animated series that I am working with a concept artist to help me put together the pitch doc.

We have a feature film in development, called Seeing Rachel, which is a story about human trafficking.

Another feature about Alzheimer’s Disease, and…

A sci-fi, limited series which we are calling the genre Q Sci-fi, or Quantum Science-Fiction. It’s based on the weirdness of the quantum universe and the dilemma of finite creatures living in an infinite universe.
