Hey everyone, I just posted a new video breaking down why the John Wick universe makes absolutely no sense — from missing cops to miracle survival. If you’re into movies, filmmaking, or just love action films, I think you’ll enjoy this one. Would love to hear your thoughts!

No need to watch a video, it's rather pointless. It's called "suspension of disbelief." We're stepping into the Wick World, and we'll enjoy the over the top action, no cops responding, and having him survive things that have knocked his soul out of his body. The audience is willing to look past these things to enjoy a good action romp.

Hey, Darshan Jaju. I see your point about the bystanders and John Wick taking so much damage, but I think everything else you pointed out makes sense since they're part of the John Wick world, even the cops not getting involved. And I look past the bystanders and John Wick taking so much damage to enjoy a good action romp like Lindbergh said.

Yep I concur... the cops would be way too slow to catch up to the John Wick War. They'd probably be eating donuts at the diner while the fights are in play!

Lindbergh Hollingsworth As a matter of fact I myself ia huge fan of John Wick and have watched the franchise a several times. But these are just some of the things that makes me curious about John's world. And I firmly believe that John Wick took the action to the next level.

Thanks Maurice Vaughan ! I do enjoy John Wick and usually overlook these things, but there’s still a small part of me that can’t help noticing them.

Correct Darshan Jaju, no point - no bodies - no evidence!

You're welcome, Darshan Jaju. I think the cops don't get involved because they're either paid off or they're afraid to go against the High Table.

Maurice Vaughan Fair point! But it would make more sense if that were limited to just one country or city. As it stands, it feels like the High Table has influence over every country in the world.

The movies make it feel like that, Darshan Jaju.
Just a concept put out there I feel was meant to compete against Denzel’s ‘The Equalizer’ films which even with the first two against the entire Wick franchise is spectacularly better. Reeves isn’t even that sort of action actor for that type of film truthfully.

Jermar Jerome Smith I beg to differ. I think John Wick films leans heavily towards fantasy aspects (not literally) while The Equalizer portrays more robust officer. Both films are great in their own merits but not fan of The Equalizer 3 though.

Both are vigilante films. They’re marketed, depicted, and geared as them. Contextually, both characters are suppose to differ in theme to sell to the public as ploy of a difference, but both are the same. Style, structure, and somewhat purpose. Even last year there were talks of merging both characters in a film. I don’t like 3 either they should’ve went a different direction to seal it as a trilogy or the idea recently there being a 4 and 5 greenlit. But again I believe the studios are doing that to compete against the Wick films. Sony who distributes Equalizer has a distribution deal with Lionsgate that produces the Wick films. Not a coincidence.

Jermar Jerome Smith I didn't know that. But honestly they shouldn't be making 4 or 5th Equalizer. It might degrade the franchise. Plus I don't want to see Denzel in a bad movie.

Me neither but supposedly they’re doing and it’s already in motion with Fuqua. If they’re going to do that, then they could’ve at least used my idea for the third installment lol.

I'm so glad someone made this you're 100% right!

Jermar Jerome Smith I hope they'll use your idea if they ever make 4 or 5th installment.
Demian Malcher Thanks! I was always curious about this, that's all.

Darshan Jaju I'm not sure I understand the criticism. Keanu Reeves is a proven draw, and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th installments of John Wick each grossed over 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5 times their production budgets, respectively. While we don't have exact figures on marketing and distribution costs, by most industry standards, those are strong financial returns — hardly a bad position to be in. Clearly something makes sense to the audience.
Kenneth George I don't think you watched the last part, there I have mentioned why despite all the absurdity we love John Wick. And it's not criticism it's more like curious questions that I often think of when watching John Wick.

I will give them props on the fact that they actually had to re-load weapons... Can't even count how many times I've watched something and somehow a weapon with a 13 round magazine fired 30 rounds.

Hannah Augenstine I guess I missed that. Should have paid more attention.

Don't care. Pure escapism. Great stunt work, storytelling, and movie making all around.

Darshan Jaju lol, it's like professional sports. Sometimes the stars get away with things — fouls that don't get called, for example — while the rookie or average player doesn't get the same leeway.
I notice subtle flaws all the time in films with legendary status even Breaking Bad for instance especially the final episode. But those films — or the people behind them — have proven themselves commercially and artistically so many times that it just doesn't matter.

If anybody had pitched a Producer a story like: "A retired assassin returns to his old ways after a group of Russian gangsters steal his car and kill his puppy which was given to him by his late wife"... it probably would've been a pass. And yet this was the story of John Wick, a franchise that has earned over $1 billion globally.

Kenneth George I agree. Managing every small details of the film or tv show is practically impossible.

Jacob Jamieson Certainly, a spinoff of John Wick would be interesting. At least we'd get to see how Baga Yaga was born.

Darshan Jaju 100% !!! Question is could everyone accept another actor in the role ? A young Wick , I’m nearly certain this isn’t a new idea. The studios had to have thought of this and other creatives. origin stories seem to be everywhere now days

Jacob Jamieson They can use AI and can cast Keanu, apparently everyone is using AI these days.
