Hi fellow Stage 32 members. I am Darrell, new to the website and have completed my pilot for a dramedy series I have been working on for the last 3 years.
I am on a pause from a 30 year career in the finance industry and travelling the world to research the elements of the show that take place overseas. I have been to 8 countries and 37 cities since October of 2024 and plan on travelling at least 18 - 24 months longer.
I will admit to being a little nervous in having taken this step. We sold all of our possessions except for family items we saved in a 10x10 storage unit. When the travel stops who know what we will do but I am determined to spend this time travelling in developing my writing passion that I largely ignored during my business career. I am very invested into this window of time to develop these ideas I have had for quite some time.
I have 2 other pilots in first draft stage and 12 other series ideas sketched out. Ranges from absurd comedies to a feminist perspective on witchcraft to mockumentaties to blended scripted/documentary/live action series that I am very high on.
So I am very excited to meet other creators on here and learn from your experiences.
Send me a message anytime. (I am in North Macedonia at the moment so generally 7-9 hours ahead of most people, just keep that in mind for response times).
Sincerely,
Darrell

Oxford, England was my favorite city. Norway at Christmas time was pretty unbelievable as was sitting with my wife in an all male and probably 100% Muslim mint tea cafe in Casablanca as the Syrian regime overthrow was being broadcast on Al-Jezzera. Pretty surreal. Every place has been educational and will inform so much of my writing for probably the rest of my life.

Here is a brief description from my pitch.
Dixie Dynamite is a family dramedy that inverts the concept of tradition using the lens of crude humor and generational perspectives while providing a wide range of commentary on a variety of topics relevant in the America of 2025. Sexuality, gender, race, drugs, media, culture and politics are all fair game and addressed by Baby Boomer, Gen X, and Millennial points of view in heartfelt, and many times politically incorrect, ways.Penny is a progressive matriarch living the American Dream in middle America. It isn’t enough. Her husband works too much, her daughter is anxious about everything, and her son is determined to bring social justice to his house, his community, and his world no matter the consequences. Dixie Dynamite, Penny’s alter ego that blossoms from late-night alcohol and weed-fueled discussions into a full-blown OnlyFans phenomenon, provides the opportunity for reinvention and revitalization. Now what?

Dixie Dynamite sounds interesting, Darrell Pennington! And the title is catchy! You could post your script on your profile. Producers search profiles for projects. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your script on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

You're welcome, Darrell Pennington. Posting scripts on my profile is how I sold four short scripts to a producer (plus networking). Hope you sell your series and your other projects!
